Educational Goals and Core Competencies:Pingtung University has the characteristics of three university systems in Taiwan: higher education, technical and vocational education, and teacher training. It is a model of university consolidation with both regional and international characteristics. The College of Science has established the Functional Materials Center in conjunction with the Department of Applied Physics and the Department of Applied Chemistry to conduct research on novel materials. The Semiconductor Materials Science program is a part of the center and aims to develop new-generation semiconductor technology.
